THE VOTE COLLECTION by BIRDIES
In 2020 Birdies launched a Vote Collection in hopes of encouraging women to register to vote. It received a great response and the brand was hoping to anniversary the concept once again in 2024.
The designs shown below were the ideas I presented.

Details: Socks & Backtabs

SPRING '24: PALM DESERT SAFARI

Huaraches
Huaraches

1st Proto was made in the Starling, I realized its rounded
toe made it look less feminine, which was not the intent. So, I moved the design to the blackbird.

Roadrunner

Birdies Roadrunners are known for their play in color and material. For this season I explored different textures, mixes of bright colors and small design elements that pulled from our concept. Now, for the socks, since Birdies is known for using the socks as a hint of a fashion surprise, I took inspiration from the palm trees and architecture in Palm Spring Homes to create the prints and colorways to your right.

FALL '23: ACADEMY

Roadrunner

For this seasons first launch I played with color blocking, texture and plaid. A nod to the academia trend.

FALL '23: MODERN BOHEMIA

Starling Tassel

Starling Tassel

Birdies most famous sillhoutte but playing with speciality material and ornamentation. The brand is already known for their playful tassels so for this season I wanted to update a classic style. Instead of using suede for the upper material, using a pixelated tapestry and instead of the typical plain suede tassel adding something simple as gold caps. I tried to play with an ornament at the vamp as shown in my initial designs but it became bulky and uncomfortable to walk in over time.

Recolors

I took this bought print and recolored options that pulled from the color palette. I initially printed this on leather since I was using suede for the upper but the impression was not great, so I reverted to our signature satin.

HOLIDAY '23: OPULENCE

Goldfinch Bracelet

In my NY shopping trip, I was getting inspired by the jewelry and material at shops and market shows. I knew I wanted to create a statement bracelet for the Goldfinch that was a nod to royalty, the jewels, and the intricate aesthetic of the theme.

1st proto - large middle jewel looked good, but was not curved enough at the instep, and we needed to connect the jeweled straps closer to the large jewel to avoid the gaping seen.

2nd Proto - made in correct materials and approved for fit

Swan Bracelet
The inpiration came from this vintage beaded collar.

Above were alternative options I created, the idea was to create a jeweled vamp but after the 1st proto we realized that much weight on what was the current vamp pattern, of the Swan, did not work. It would not stay on the foot. Which was a learning we had from a previous all beaded style launched the year prior.
